GPS
Only limited GPS receivers are supported by the platform. They are listed in the Supported Equipment section.
The GPS subsystem is 100% plug-an-play. No user intervention is required. When a supported GPS device is connected, the following occurs automatically:
- GPS service is started.
- GPS unit attempts to establish a fix.
- If not connected to the Internet, the time will be synchronized using GPS.
- GPS Time under System Information is set to
Yes
.
The following applications in EmComm Tools Community support GPS with zero-configuration:
- Navit
- APRS Client (YAAC)
- Winlink
- Chrony time service
If you plan to use GPS with one of the applications above, make sure that you connect the GPS unit first, then use et-mode
to start or restart a mode.
If you run into issues with your GPS device, open a terminal and run: et-time
. It is designed to confirm that your clock is set via the GPS and will provide the state of the time synchronization.
