et-predict-app

et-predict-app is a custom graphical application to make offline HF prediction simpler to use. Simply click on the genie icon in the launcher on the left side of the Desktop.

The application should render an offline map with your current position. The position is based on your GPS location (if available), or fallback to the maidenhead grid specified by et-user.

Offline Callsign Lookup

The current version of EmComm Tools Community contains a small, offline geocoded database of amateur radio operators in the U.S. To look up a callsign (without the Internet):

  1. Click the menu icon on the upper left.

  2. Enter a callsign.

  3. Press the Search button.

Offline HF Prediction

To perform an offline HF prediction between you and the current station:

  1. Select your output power.

  2. Select your mode.

  3. Press the Predict button.

If there is a prediction where the reliability is above 90%, the application will display the band, frequency, and reliability percentage for the current hour.

Click on the Later tab to the view prediction for the next 23 hours. All times are expressed in UTC. Again, only predictions above 90% are shown. This is by design to limit the amount of information shown and to provide the best chance of perform quick HF planning.

If you need more control over the prediction use et-voacap or voacapl directly.

Like et-voacap, this application is intended to give you a rough estimate completely offline. It is intentionally designed to be simple and assist the field operator to have a general idea if an HF path is likely possible given the two stations, transmitter power and mode. It assumes that a generic isotropic-antenna (an omnidirectional antenna with 0 dBi gain) is used for both the transmitting and receiving station.
